Welcome to Nysa! Depending on your citizenship and the length of your Erasmus+ mobility, you may need to complete two different registration procedures after arriving in Poland.

1. ADDRESS REGISTRATION IN NYSA – ZAMELDOWANIE

If you are staying in Nysa, you may be required to register your temporary place of residence (zameldowanie na pobyt czasowy). This procedure is handled by the City Council in Nysa (Urząd Miejski w Nysie). Important: address registration (zameldowanie) is not the same procedure as registration of your legal residence in Poland.

You will normally need your valid passport or national ID card and a document confirming your accommodation in Nysa. Students living in the university dormitory should contact the International Cooperation Office before visiting the City Council, as additional confirmation concerning accommodation may be required.

2. REGISTRATION OF RESIDENCE IN POLAND - EU/EEA/SWISS STUDENTS

If you are a citizen of the European Union, EEA/EFTA or Switzerland and your Erasmus+ stay in Poland will last more than 3 months, you should register your residence in Poland. For students, the right to stay for more than three months is generally connected with studying in Poland and having sufficient financial resources and appropriate health insurance. This procedure is handled by the Opole Voivodeship Office, not by the City Council in Nysa.

The Migrant OUW portal currently lists the information point for foreigners as open Monday–Friday,
 8:00–15:00 and provides the helpline numbers 800 033 010 and +48 77 45 24 543. 
The application for registration of residence of an EU citizen is submitted in person to the competent Voivode. There is currently no administrative fee for this registration. After successful registration, you receive a Certificate of Registration of Residence of an EU Citizen.

3. STUDENTS FROM OUTSIDE THE EU/EEA/SWITZERLAND

If you are a non-EU student, the formalities depend on your citizenship, visa, duration of stay and the document on the basis of which you entered Poland. A visa and address registration are not automatically equivalent to a residence permit. If your stay requires further legalisation, the competent authority is the:

Please check your individual situation with the International Cooperation Office and the Foreigners Service Centre. Residence-permit procedures for non-EU nationals have also undergone significant procedural changes in 2026, so students should always use the current official instructions rather than older guides.

Prepare your passport or national ID card, documents confirming your Erasmus+ student status and documents concerning your accommodation. For residence registration/legalisation, additional documents such as proof of health insurance and sufficient financial resources may be required depending on your individual situation.
