Sustainable Energy Management - Course Organized as Part of the International Summer School
From July 1-12, 2024, the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa hosted the International Summer School, which included a course on sustainable energy management conducted by Dr. Eng. Piotr Chwastyk from the Faculty of Technical Sciences. This course was attended by students from partner universities in Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, and Indonesia.
The aim of the course was to discuss the fundamental goals of sustainable development, with particular emphasis on the use of renewable energy sources for the production of green energy.
During the course, various types of renewable sources and energy generation technologies from these sources were discussed. Participants learned the theoretical and practical foundations of green energy production. Topics related to the energy intensity of processes and energy storage as crucial elements of energy management in enterprises were also covered. In addition to lectures and practical classes prepared by Dr. Eng. Piotr Chwastyk, students had the opportunity to participate in:
- Online lectures conducted by Dr. Bukurije Hoxha from the University of Prishtina in Kosovo on renewable energy sources from wind farms;
- Workshop classes using drones prepared by Dr. Eng. Jacek Tomasiak, which allowed them to see the photovoltaic installation that powers the Nysa university;
- Workshop classes conducted by Mr. Mieczysław Biel from the Opole Education Center using a mobile industry laboratory equipped with photovoltaic installations.
Moreover, course participants took part in two study visits to the Umicore company located in Radzikowice and to Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
