Partnership visit with the University of Ain Temouchent Belhadj Bouchaib in Algeria
An Erasmus+ partnership visit from the University of Ain Temouchent Belhadj Bouchaib in Algeria took place from 06-10.03.2023, during which the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa was visited by:
Dr Boualem BENGHALEM - Faculty of letters and English Language
Dr Abdelkader Nebatti Ech Chergui-Department of Material Sciences
The purpose of the visit was primarily to give lectures to students of the Faculty of Neophilology and to discuss the potential for future cooperation, including the implementation of the Erasmus+ Programme and other initiatives and projects as well as joint research in the field of materials.
The lectures given included:
- Introduction about Algeria and Belhadj Bouchaib University
- The use of English language as a medium of instruction.
- Strategies to help students learn English according to their learning style
- Research methodology and results on obtaining thin films that are characterized by transparency and electrical conductivity
At the Faculty of Neophilology, the guests met with Vice-Dean dr Małgorzata Kamińska, as well as dr Agnieszka Kaczmarek and mgr Sebastian Zatylny. There was also a meeting with lecturers who will be leaving for the partner university in Algeria in the current semester, namely mg inż. arch. Michał Kaczmarzyk and mg inż. arch. Jakub Tomiczek and MA Marcin Czarnobrewy.
Dr Abdelkader Nebatti Ech Chergui, on the other hand, visited the Department of Monument Conservation where he had the opportunity to exchange research experiences with Dr Katarzyna Stefańczyk. Our guest was introduced to, among other things, the research capabilities of PANS in the laboratories used at the university, as well as sample SEM results for various materials, and took part in a demonstration of scanning microscopy. The visitor also presented his area of research, i.e. obtaining thin films that are characterised by transparency and electrical conductivity, and gave a presentation covering the construction of the apparatus, the physics behind the thin film process and the results of his research. During the visit, the possibility of joint research and publication was also discussed.
On 10.03.2023, the guests also met with the University Authorities: JM Rector dr inż. Przemysław Malinowski and dr inż. Mariusz Kołosowski.
During the visit, meetings were also held in the International Cooperation Office, where manager Ms Anna Opałka acquainted the guests with information about the University, its teaching facilities, and the potential for developing cooperation in the future. The procedures of the Erasmus+ programme were also discussed in relation to all the activities taking place.
There was also a monitoring meeting with six Algerian students who are pursuing part of their studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa this semester in the fields of English studies and Finance and Accounting.
In addition to the official programme, the guests also had the opportunity to learn about the history and monuments of Nysa with their guide - English studies student Ms Paulina Stęglowska and Paula Flores, an intern at BWM.
All the discussions, lectures and valuable exchange of experiences will certainly contribute to improving the quality of the educational services offered to students and staff.
