Partner visit from UNIVERSIDAD A DISTANCIA DE MADRID

On 22-28 March 2023. University of Applied Sciences in Nysa hosted representatives of the partner university UNIVERSIDAD A DISTANCIA DE MADRID:

  • Dr. LAURA LARA MARTINEZ, Professor of Contemporary History and Education
  • Dr. MARIA LARA MARTINEZ, Professor of Contemporary History and Anthropology

Besides teaching at the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid, Dr Laura and Maria Lara Martinez are the authors of many books and host historical programmes on Spanish and Argentine radio and television.

They also collaborate with universities such as the University of Alcalá de Henares, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha. At PANS in Nysa, representatives of the Spanish university met with mgr. Patrycja Twardowska, an English language teacher, and gave lectures for students of Architecture on the topics:

  • "Civil architecture in the History of Spain" - Dr. Laura Lara Martinez
  • "Gaudí, an architect between nature and God" - Dr. Laura Lara Martinez
  • "Guastavino, the Spanish architect of New York"- Dr. Laura Lara Martinez
  • "Religious architecture in the history of Spain"- Dr Maria Lara Martinez
  • "Spanish painting and architecture of the Golden Age - Dr Maria Lara Martinez
  • Guastavino: 1000 buildings in New York"- Dr Maria Lara Martinez

As part of the University's cooperation with the Carollinum I High School in Nysa, the DLH and the High School of Arts in Nysa, the guests gave numerous lectures and presentations to students about Spanish culture, art and language.

At the Carolinum, the students also took part in interesting language activities, which included translating in English and Spanish the history of Spain, customs and traditions, literary milestones of the birth of the Spanish language, the literature of the Golden Age with Calderon de la Barca's play "La vida es unsueño", whose starting point is Poland, Cervantes' Don Quixote and the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca.

Ms Laura and Ms Maria Lara Martinez also met with mgr Anna Opałka - University Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme at PANS in Nysa, who introduced the guests to the University's teaching potential. The possibilities of cooperation between the universities in the next academic year were also discussed.Paula Flores and Erasmus+ students from Spain introduced the guests to the beauty of the city of Nysa and its monuments.

A continuation of the lecture series started by the Professors is planned for next year.

The guests were also interviewed on Radio Galega on 27.03.2023 about the recently published book "Lies of Spanish History.”, “Late Afternoon".

The ladies also introduced listeners to Nysa, which is part of the Camino de Santiago. (2704 km from Santiago de Compostela)
