Visit at the Faculty of Education, Palacký University in Olomouc 22-26.04.2024

From April 22 to 26, 2024, Fulbright ETA Alyssa Sharp and instructors of the Department of Modern Languages, Sebastian Zatylny, M.A. and Agnieszka Kaczmarek, Ph.D., visited the Faculty of Education of the Palacký University in Olomouc, in the Czech Republic. The aim of the visit was to deepen cooperation with our partner university and deliver lectures as part of the Erasmus+ program. Grantee Alyssa Sharp delivered a lecture on regional dialects and culture in the United States. Sebastian Zatylny, M.A., conducted classes in the field of didactics, discussing the similarities and differences between traditional and postmodern education. Dr. Agnieszka Kaczmarek talked about selected representations of the female body on screen and their impact on popular culture.

During the visit, the Nysa instructors established contact with selected lecturers of the Faculty of Education: Dean of the Institute Dr. Ivona Dömischová (Didactics of the German language, teaching students with special educational needs), Dr. Jana Kořínková (Introduction to the study of the English language, Phonetics and Phonology), Petra Charvátová, M.A. (a Ph.D. candidate in the field of Linguistics, teaching General English courses), Dr. Petr Anténe (research on contemporary British prose, British Jewish literature, and literature for young people), and Dr. Ivan Čipkár (philosophical critique of semantic externalism in the American analytic tradition, undergraduate American Literature courses).

We would like to thank the instructors of the University of Olomouc for their warm welcome and the entire team of the International Cooperation Office for the efficient preparation of the mobility both formally and informally.

Agnieszka Kaczmarek
