Meeting with a representative from the Mayor's Office of Hildesheim and Erasmus+ Interns
On February 19, 2025, the International Cooperation Office in Nysa welcomed Mr. Oliver Rösner from the Mayor’s Office of Hildesheim and two Erasmus+ interns, Ms. Marie Flor and Ms. Marie-Therese Lachstädter. The interns have come to Poland to gain hands-on experience with local government operations as part of their Erasmus+ internship at Nysa municipality, running from February 17 to March 3, 2025.
During their visit, the guests met with mgr Anna Opałka, head of the International Cooperation Office and Erasmus+ University Coordinator. They also participated in the Erasmus+ Adaptation Day at the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, attended a short Polish language workshop, and took part in the International Day of Languages event at UAS. Additionally, they explored the university’s educational facilities, academic programs, and potential areas of cooperation. Discussions also touched upon the possibility of facilitating professional internships for UAS students at the Hildesheim City Hall and reviving collaboration with the local university there.
A very interesting fact is that very first Erasmus+ student mobilities from the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa took place in 2005 at HAWK Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaft und Kunst (Hildesheim, Holzminden, Göttingen), a university in Hildesheim.
Hildesheim, a city in Germany, has strong historical ties to Nysa. Many former residents of Nysa (before World War II) now live there, and Hildesheim has taken Nysa under its patronage. This includes supporting the restoration of historic sites such as the treasury at the cathedral and the reconstruction of the Eichendorf pavilion. The city has also provided aid in difficult situations, such as the floods of 1997 and the most recent one in September 2024. Additionally, Hildesheim is home to the Neisser Kultur- und Heimatbund e.V. (a cultural and heritage association for former Nysa residents) and the Nysa Museum.
