Second National Celebration of the Day of the Medical Rescuer 6th of September 2024
On 6. September this year in the PANS Auditorium in Nysa took place the Second National Celebration of the Day of the Medical Rescuer. Their organizer was the Polish Association of Medical Rescuers, while our University was the main co-organizer. The celebration had a very solemn character with the National Anthem and the introduction of the flag posts (PANS Nysa and PTRM).
Medical Rescuer's Day was established by the Act of December 1, 2022 on the profession of medical rescuer and the self-government of medical rescuers. As you can see, this is a new holiday, however, it is beginning to play an increasingly important role among the medical profession in Poland. It is worth noting that the choice of Nysa and our University as the venue for this year's Celebration was not accidental. It was in Nysa that the first Hospital Emergency Ward in Poland was opened, and it was here that the first hospital helipad was built. Today it is already a standard and every newly built hospital must have one, but at one time only Nysa decided to take such a step. Finally, the then State Higher Vocational School in Nysa was one of the first universities in Poland to start training paramedics.
The invitation to participate in the celebrations was accepted by representatives of the Ministry of Health with Deputy Minister Marek Kos, uniformed services including the Provincial and District Headquarters of the State Fire Service, the Police, the Military Recruitment Center or the Nysa Penitentiary. We were also honored by the presence of Ms. Monika Jurek Opole Voivode and Daniel Palimąka Nysa Starost. There could not be missed representatives of health care, including those associated with emergency medicine: Prof. Robert J. Ładny National Consultant in emergency medicine, Dr. Jarosław Kostyła provincial consultant and coordinator of emergency medical services for the Opolskie Voivodeship, or representatives of the management of the Nysa ZOZ.
During the celebration, the most important events were summarized, people and institutions of merit for emergency medical services were decorated with Bonum Pro Aliis medals, and statues and commemorative diplomas were presented to, among others, Prof. Dr. Krystyna Sosada, of the State Academy of Applied Sciences in Nysa, Dr. Eng. prof. ucz. Przemysław Malinowski, Ph. D. medical prof. ucz. Wojciech Żurawiński, Olga Wierzchowiec, M.D., Dr. Elżbieta Rutkiewicz and Dr. Kazimierz Błoński.
It was an opportunity to remember those who have departed for eternal duty. The undersigned delivered the Lecture: “The paramedic, yesterday, today and tomorrow”. The celebration ended with an occasional concert performed by the Saxesfull Plus band.
