Record Attendance at the Nysa Science Festival 2026

Record Attendance at the Nysa Science Festival 2026

On 24–25 March 2026, the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa invited the public into the world of science for the 19th time by organising the Nysa Science Festival. This year’s edition had a special significance, as it not only gathered around 2,000 participants but also inaugurated the celebrations of the University’s 25th anniversary. It was two days filled with inspiration, discovery, and direct contact with science in its most practical form. The honorary patronage of the Nysa Science Festival was held by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Opole Voivode, the Marshal of the Opole Voivodeship, the Opole Education Superintendent, the Nysa County Governor, and the Mayor of Nysa. The event was also joined by companies and institutions cooperating with the University, including UMICORE Nysa, IONWAY Nysa, the County Police Headquarters in Nysa, the Military Recruitment Centre in Brzeg, the Territorial Defence Forces, the Labour Office in Nysa, the Voivodeship Labour Office in Opole (EDUBUS), the University of Silesia in Katowice, as well as local media.

The festival programme included over 100 events such as workshops, lectures, laboratory demonstrations, competitions, and interactive meetings. Particular attention was given to issues related to safety in everyday life and challenges connected with the development of new technologies. Participants could not only listen and observe but above all experience, experiment, and ask questions. On the first day, the Nysa Cultural Centre became the vibrant festival hub. That is where science met the passion and creativity of students during the Student Science Clubs Festival. The space was filled with discussions, demonstrations, and experiments, while young researchers enthusiastically presented their projects, inspiring visitors with curiosity and engagement.

On the second day, the festival moved to the University campus, opening the doors to modern laboratories and teaching spaces. Participants had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of university life, take part in workshops, and see what learning looks like “from the inside”. The 5th Sport Fit Festival also attracted great interest, offering movement, energy, and sporting excitement, allowing participants to test their abilities and enjoy friendly competition. The final highlight of the event was a unique musical journey prepared by students of the Jazz Department. The concert “Damy polskiej piosenki” provided an atmospheric and emotional closing to the two intensive festival days. This year’s edition was also exceptional because it inaugurated the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, an institution that has long combined modernity with a practical approach to education and the development of young people’s passions. During the press conference, His Magnificence Rector Dr. Eng. Mariusz Kołosowski, Prof. UAS, emphasized that the strength of the University lies in consistently building quality and closely linking education with the needs of the modern economy. He noted that Nysa is a place where young people can develop their talents and look confidently into the future. The conference was also attended by, among others, Zuzanna Donath-Kasiura - Deputy Marshal of the Opole Voivodeship, Kordian Kolbiarz – The Mayor of Nysa, and Bogusław Wierdak - Vice-Chairman of the Opole Regional Assembly. Representatives of the socio-economic environment, educational institutions, and the media were also present.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the organisation of this exceptional event, including students, academic staff supervising student research clubs, the promotion team, lecturers, partners, company representatives, media, and the team of the Nysa Cultural Centre. Thanks to their commitment, the Festival once again became a space for encounters, inspiration, and discovering science at its best.
