Winter Break with the Young Explorer Academy at UAS in Nysa

From February 3rd to 7th, 2025, the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa hosted a special edition of the Young Explorer Academy. Schoolchildren from grades IV–VIII of local primary schools had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of science, exploring topics related to sustainable development. Through engaging workshops, participants gained insights into key issues such as environmental protection, personal development, physical and mental health, and the modern technologies shaping our future.

The Academy featured sessions led by UAS lecturers, who shared their knowledge and passion in various fields, including:

  • Architecture – How to build in an eco-friendly and energy-efficient way? (mgr inż. Ewa Matras)
  • Cosmetology – How to use natural and sustainable skincare products? (mgr Agnieszka Pulik)
  • Jazz – How does music influence physical development and emotional well-being? (dr Mariusz Drożdżal)
  • Sustainable Development – How can we produce and utilize green energy? (dr inż. Piotr Chwastyk)
  • Economics – How to save money while promoting sustainability? (dr inż. Adriana Halikowska)
  • Computer Science – How can technology help protect the environment? (dr inż. Adam Dudek)

  • Dietetics – How to eat healthily while making the most of nature’s gifts? (dr inż. Marzena Zołoteńka-Synowiec)

This year’s edition was exceptional in many ways. The intensive schedule allowed young participants to embark on an exciting journey through science.

The workshops combined theory with hands-on practice, engaging young people in experiments, exercises, and interactive tasks to deepen their understanding of scientific concepts and their real-world applications. We were delighted to see participants demonstrating enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork. On the final day, students enjoyed fun activities organized by preschool and early education pedagogy students. They also had the chance to learn essential first-aid skills during a workshop run by COR, the university’s student scientific club for medical rescue. The Young Explorer Academy in Nysa is more than just a series of workshops — it’s an inspiration to explore, cultivate passions, and gain knowledge with a sense of responsibility for the environment. We hope that the experiences gained will motivate participants to continue their personal and academic growth, pursuing their dreams with confidence.

Congratulations to all Academy graduates! We wish you great success in your future academic and personal endeavors.
