Seminar summarizing the first edition of the project "Support for a Balanced Future"

On 29.05.2023, the University Applied Sciences in Nysa hosted a seminar summarizing the first edition of the project "Support for a Balanced Future", during which innovative projects by students using renewable energy were presented.

A keyboard that generates renewable energy, sufficient, for example, to recharge mobile devices, an automatic lawnmower with a watering and fertilizing function powered by electricity from solar panels, a phone charged by a glass quantum coat, or a phone case with a solar battery are just some of the innovative proposals presented by young people during the seminar. All projects were graded by the Competition Committee consisting of:

  • Jerzy Duda, Ph.D., prof. UAS in Nysa;
  • dr. inż. Piotr Woźniak,
  • dr. inż. Adam Dudek.

The presentations were met with great interest not only by the Commission, but also by the students and teachers present at the seminar. Taking into account the originality of the concept, the wholeness of the project, the practicality of the solution and the quality of the project presentation, the Commission decided to award:

  • I place for the Center for Vocational and Continuing Education in Nysa for the design of an automatic lawn mower,
  • II place for the Diocesan High School of Humanities for the design of an innovative keyboard,
  • III place for the Complex of Schools and Educational Institutions in Nysa for the design of a phone charged with quantum glass.

Teams that stood on the podium received Horizon kits (renewable energy science kit - I place, H-Racer 2.0. hydrogen car - II place, solar educational kit - III place), which can be used during realized classes at schools. In addition, each participating class received a kit - a fuel cell hydrocar.

The meeting, which brought together nearly 200 students from high schools in Nysa and Otmuchow in the auditorium of the Nysa Academy, provided also an opportunity to summarize the activities realized under the project in the first half of 2023. Leading the seminar, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development dr. Piotr Chwastyk presented all the forms of activities that were delivered by UAS lecturers in Nysa, including a city game, which gained great interest among the students. Gifts were also presented to its winners - representatives of the Center for Vocational and Continuing Education in Nysa.

The "Support for a Balanced Future" project is realized by the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa from 2022 to 2024 and is financed by funds from the Ministry of Education and Science within the framework of the "Social Responsibility of Science" program under contract No. SONP/SP/550650/2022.
