Cooperation agreement with St. John's University, New York, USA
On 22.03.2023r. Rector of the University of Applied Sciences - dr inż. Przemysław Malinowski signed a Cooperation Agreement with St. John's University in New York, USA. On the part of the US partner, the agreement was signed by: Simon MØller, Ph.D. - Provost.
This is another agreement with a US partner, following successful collaborations with California State University Bakersfield and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), with which Erasmus+ mobility and other activities such as the International Book Club (IBC) project collaboration have already taken place.
The agreement provides for, among other things, activities such as:
a. Exchange of faculty, staff and students
b. Engagement in joint research projects
c. Promoting the exchange of publications and scientific information
d. Promoting other academic activities
Founded in 1870, St. John's University is a metropolitan and global university that benefits from New York City's cultural diversity, its intellectual and artistic resources, and its exceptional professional learning opportunities. Through partnerships with other institutions around the world, study abroad opportunities and online courses and degrees, the university's reach extends around the globe. In educating students, it is committed to fostering those qualities needed for graduates to become effective leaders and responsible citizens in a vibrant city and dynamic world.
In practice, the collaboration will primarily consist of exchanging staff and building educational programmes for students. On behalf of St. John's University, Prof. Luca Iandoli, Ph.D., Interim Dean Collins College of Professional Studies, St. John's University, will be responsible for the implementation of the agreement.
As early as during the Summer School organised at UAS in Nysa from 26.06-07.07.2023, within the framework of the concluded agreement, the course "Business Intelligence - big data analytics" for students will be conducted by Prof. Geoffrey Dick, PhD.
The plans for the coming academic year also include:
1. Organisation of joint online lectures (COILS etc.)
2. Organisation of joint workshops, short programmes for students - in Poland and in the USA (e.g. Heckathon-type events)
3. Exchange of teaching and administrative staff in order to share experiences and increase the quality and attractiveness of education (under the Erasmus+ programme or other programmes)
4. In case of receiving funding from the Erasmus+ programme, student exchanges in both directions for part of the studies will also be possible.
