The Second Edition of the Project "Batteries Recharge Our Daily Lives" has come to an end!

On January 15, 2025, the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa hosted a ceremonial summary of the project "Batteries Recharge Our Daily Lives."
The event was attended by school principals and teachers participating in the program, Director of the Municipal Education Management Board, Beata Szymczakowska, and the representatives of Umicore: Alicja Stafford, Darek Jurczak, and Anna Matwijów. The University of Applied Sciences in Nysa was represented by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development, dr inż. Piotr Chwastyk together with the Head of the External Relations Department, mgr Anna Opałka.
During the meeting, the guests were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development and Alicja Stafford, Communication Manager at Umicore Battery Materials Poland and the project coordinator. Mgr Anna Opałka gave a brief summary of the project, after which participants shared their impressions of the project, delivering engaging presentations prepared for the occasion.
Additionally, he attendees had the opportunity to demonstrate their acquired knowledge in a short quiz with prizes, followed by the formal presentation of participation certificates and acknowledgments to the teachers. The ceremony was completed with a commemorative group photo of the project participants.
The educational initiative "Batteries Recharge Our Daily Lives" aligns with Umicore’s goals of raising awareness about electromobility, green energy, and environmental protection. These also correspond to the mission and strategic objectives of the University in Nysa.
The second edition of the project focused on Umicore’s educational package, "Batteries Recharge Our Daily Lives," and was conducted between February 2024 and January 2025. Similar to the previous edition, Umicore initiated and funded the project, with the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa serving as a substantive partner.
In this edition, 120 students participated from the following schools: Primary School No. 1 in Nysa, Primary School No. 10 in Nysa, and ZSP Goświnowice. The program covered a total of 12 teaching hours, delivered by teachers from these schools according to a curriculum developed by a multidisciplinary team of professors and experts from Umicore. The students also participated in a study visit to Umicore’s headquarters in Radzikowice.
The project "Batteries Recharge Our Daily Lives" exemplifies the effectiveness of collaboration between the realms of science, business, and education for the benefit of our planet’s future.
