Over a Decade of Cooperation Connecting Poland and India A Review of IEEF Activities in Nysa
On 30 September 2026, the Nysa Branch of the Indo-European Education Foundation (IEEF), operating at the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, officially concludes its activities. This marks the end of an important chapter spanning more than a decade of efforts to develop Polish-Indian cooperation. However, it does not mean the end of joint initiatives between UAS in Nysa and IEEF. As of 1 October 2026, the Foundation's activities will be coordinated through its headquarters in Warsaw. At the same time, PANS in Nysa and IEEF remain open to further cooperation under the existing Memorandum of Understanding.
The origins of this cooperation date back to 2014, when the Polish Desk of the EuroIndia Centre was established at what was then the State Higher Vocational School in Nysa, as a branch of the EuroIndia Centre in France. Its purpose was to create opportunities for developing relations between Poland, India and other European countries in the fields of higher education, science, business, culture and regional cooperation. From the outset, the initiative focused on establishing direct contacts between universities, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, representatives of public institutions and non-governmental organisations.
Another important milestone was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University and the Indo-European Education Foundation in 2015. The agreement provided a formal framework for developing joint academic and international initiatives. One of the outcomes of this growing cooperation was the international conference entitled “Business Risk in Changing Dynamics of Global Village”, held in Nysa in 2017. The event provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and experience in economics, management and business operations in a rapidly changing global environment. It also resulted in scientific collaboration and joint publications. A new chapter began in 2018 with the establishment of the Indo-European Education Foundation Branch in Nysa. The Branch became a platform for cooperation between academic institutions, public organisations and the business community, with particular emphasis on relations between Poland and India. Its activities supported the University's internationalisation process, the development of contacts with Indian universities and institutions, scientific cooperation, academic mobility and the establishment of links between academia and the socio-economic environment. Another important aspect of these efforts was the mutual promotion of Polish and Indian science, education and culture. In the following years, representatives of PANS in Nysa participated in conferences and initiatives organised by IEEF in India and Europe. These events provided opportunities to showcase the University's potential, exchange experiences in internationalisation and establish contacts with new international partners. A practical example of these developing relations was the Academia-Industry Experience in the European Union (AIEEA) project. During its second edition in 2024, PANS in Nysa hosted students and representatives of the academic community from India.Participants had the opportunity to learn about the European model of cooperation between higher education institutions and the socio-economic environment. The project also provided a platform for direct academic and intercultural exchange.
Over the years, cooperation with IEEF has therefore been an important element of the internationalisation of PANS in Nysa and the development of the University's relations with partners outside Europe. From 1 October 2026, all official activities, correspondence and organisational matters of the Foundation will be handled by its headquarters in Warsaw.
All official activities, correspondence, and organizational matters of IEEF will be managed through the Foundation's main office in Warsaw:
ul. Przylesie 21A/204, 03-153 Warsaw, Poland; Email: info@ieef.pl; Email: secretary.ieef@gmail.com
This organisational change does not mark the end of relations between the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa and the Indo-European Education Foundation. Both institutions remain open to continued cooperation under the existing Memorandum of Understanding. The experience gained over the years will provide a foundation for future initiatives in academic and scientific cooperation, internationalisation, student and staff mobility, the development of international partnerships and the implementation of joint projects.
The closure of the Nysa Branch also provides an opportunity to express our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the development of Polish-Indian cooperation in Nysa over the past years. We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our special and heartfelt thanks to Dr Pradeep Kumar, President of the Indo-European Education Foundation (IEEF), for his longstanding commitment, fruitful cooperation and personal contribution to the development of this initiative. We sincerely appreciate his openness, support and dedication to our joint efforts, which have played an important role in building and strengthening academic relations between Poland and India over the years.
We would also like to thank the staff and students of UAS in Nysa, representatives of partner universities, institutions and organisations, as well as everyone who has participated in the projects, conferences, meetings and other activities undertaken as part of this cooperation. We hope that the relationships established since 2014 will continue to develop in new forms and that cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa and the Indo-European Education Foundation in Warsaw will lead to further valuable initiatives benefiting both institutions and their communities.
